This image captures a pair of obscure small galaxies in the constellation of Ursa Major at a declination of +53 degrees.
NGC 4068, at lower right, is a Blue Compact Dwarf (BCD) galaxy located 14 million light years away. It is a magnitude 12.4 galaxy which spans 3 arc-minutes in our apparent view. This corresponds to a diameter of only 13,000 light years. My collection of BCD galaxies is

NGC 4102, at upper left, is a barred spiral galaxy located 40 million light years away. It is a magnitude 11.2 galaxy which spans 3 arc-minutes in our apparent view. This corresponds to a diameter of 40,000 light years. I like the central yellow bar and the faint mid-region star-forming ring. The details of this galaxy are clearer on the lower left half, which is likely the near side of the disk.
Along the bottom edge of the image are a number of distant interesting galaxies, about 1 billion light years away.
